My child has chickenpox – what should I do?
If your child is feeling well, they are welcome to come and take part in the exercise class, as a child is already infectious before the first spots appear. Please keep your child at home if they are not feeling well or are too ill to attend the exercise class. In either case, we would appreciate it if you could let us know.
-
Do I need to withdraw my child?
Of course, we’d appreciate it if you could let us know if your child is unable to attend on a particular occasion. You can do this by sending us an email. However, this will not directly affect whether or not your child obtains the relevant Exercise Certificate. Unfortunately, the missed lesson cannot be made up. No refund of (part of) the fees will be given in the event of absence. If your child is unable to attend for an extended period, we will work with you to find a suitable solution.
-
Can I have a taster lesson?
You are, of course, welcome to attend a taster lesson so that you can see whether our lessons are suitable for your child. You can request a taster lesson via the online form.
-
Does my child need special clothes and shoes?
It’s best if the children wear clothes that allow them to move around easily. They can wear trainers or take part barefoot – the choice is yours. For safety reasons, they are not allowed to take part in socks, as the floor is too slippery.

Do I need to complete Miffy Movement Certificate 1 first in order to take part in Miffy Movement Certificate 2?
No, that’s not necessary. Toddlers start with the Miffy Movement Certificate Level 1 and can then progress to the Miffy Movement Certificate Level 2. Pre-schoolers may start with Level 2 if they wish.

Why am I, as a parent, only allowed to sit in on a few lessons?
During our lessons, we’d prefer it if parents only came to watch for the last 10 minutes. We know from experience that children get distracted easily when there are lots of people in the room. Maat S structures her lessons in such a way as to encourage self-directed learning. By exploring and carrying out the activities themselves, the children will become more independent and experience success, which in turn boosts their self-confidence. In addition, playing with other children is encouraged. Find out more about our philosophy.
We believe it is important for you, as a parent, to be able to see what we do during our lessons; that is why we schedule a few observation sessions per course, during which you are welcome to watch the entire lesson. This also allows you to see your child’s progress.
-
As teachers, how do you keep track of whether my child is going to pass their exams?
Each lesson focuses on different aspects of the basic forms of movement. After each lesson, we note down the things that catch our attention so that we can take them into account in future lessons.
-
What does a lesson look like?
We begin the lesson by exploring the movement scenarios. We then use these various scenarios to practise some basic forms of movement. Children can choose activities suited to their own level and will be challenged by the teachers to push their boundaries step by step. Self-directed learning is central to this approach. The movement activities are designed so that they can usually be carried out independently. About halfway through the lesson, we do a group activity or game that also focuses on playing together.
-
What is the aim of the lessons?
The aim of our lessons is to improve young children’s motor skills so that they enjoy being active and are therefore more likely to remain active throughout their lives. We believe it is important for children to discover their own potential and to learn to play together.
